Salma Omokaro
Salma Omokaro is the founder of Safeguarding Shield, a specialist safeguarding consultancy supporting schools, colleges, further education providers, academy trusts, charities, faith organisations, community groups, families, and foster carers across the UK.
With over 15 years in education and 7+ years as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, she has dedicated her career to protecting children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

Approach
Salma combines strategic safeguarding leadership with real frontline experience of managing complex cases, working with multi-agency partners, supporting staff, and engaging families, all while ensuring organisations meet their statutory responsibilities. As an experienced educator currently teaching A Level Psychology, Sociology, and Health and Social Care, she brings a rare ability to make complex safeguarding issues clear, practical, and genuinely useful.
Mission
Salma believes safeguarding is about more than meeting statutory requirements; it's about building a culture where concerns are acted on early, and every child, young person, and vulnerable adult feels safe, valued, and heard. She's also a committed parent advocate, supporting families, particularly Black families and those new to the UK, to navigate the education system with confidence.
